SUMCO
Project Details
Group Mackenzie provided comprehensive services for the design of this 50-acre corporate headquarters campus for SUMCO, a company that produces epitaxial coating on silicon wafers for the production of electronic semiconductors. The three-phase project included administration offices, production and distribution activities, and clean rooms. There were extensive requirements for coordination of the physical design of the facility with the operational needs.
Varying levels of clean rooms were provided throughout the facility to correspond to the functional requirements of its use. Large mechanical service areas were also provided for these clean rooms to house gases and liquids and to serve as distribution areas for the materials through the laboratory and fabrication spaces within the facility. State of the art redundant systems were provided for mechanical, electrical, ventilation, and security elements. The final result was an integrated, flexible, market-responsive complex.
